Welting and Stitching method of sole fixing (scheme 1)
| |
 |
The basis for sole fixing in the welted footwear is a welt, fastened to the half-finished boot and to the insole at once by pitched waterproof thread. The sole is sewed to the welt by double stitch (the thread is also soaked with pitch). Welted boots consider to be the best, because of its finesse, durability together with softness and flexibility. The only disadvantage of such boots is material capacity and laboriousness. But the quality of welted footwear offsets this disadvantage. |

Bonding and Stitching method of sole fixing (scheme 2)
| |
 |
The use of glue for sticking sole to the boot was patented in Russia in 1850. Bonding and stitching method of sole fixing was widespread since 80's of the XX century, when finished formed soles appeared. Research devoted to priorities in methods of sole fixing made by the candidate of technical sciences Farmakovsky V.M. was published in the "Seasons Footwear" magazine: |
